Life is Messy!

You know, if there is anything that I have learned, and it is that the life that you dreamed of…the life that you had tied in a pretty red bow…if as big a myth as a freakin’ unicorn. Plain and simple, life is very messy.

Take me for instance, I just knew that I would have the perfect marriage, kids that would be obedient, and a career to die for. However, it hasn’t quite happened that way. For one, marriage is hard, hard work, and you have issues from time to time that test the strengh of your relationship. When you’re in that moment, it’s hard to see your way back to the point where you guys are laughing about something random. At times, it feels like you’ll never laugh again.

As for the kids, anything short of pre-programmed robots for offspring, will be challenging. I mean, as much as I love my girls, I guess obedience is not a hereditary trait that I slipped into their DNA. The clincher is that they are great for other people like the grandparents and let me say, “something else” for me. Man, take a look at family photos sometime, and if you could get the backstory on them getting to those shoots–I think we’d all be surprised.

Now the “c” word–CAREER. For me, this concept has been as elusive as my kids running when it’s bath time–you know not quit able to grasp it. I just thought that by now, I would be on my second cover of Time, Vogue, or Oprah’s magazine. Hell, I would take “Mad Magazine” at this point. Why can’t I figure this out?

I know, I know, “cry me a river,” right?!

I’ll get there and my time is coming, but man, I’m just sayin’ can it be soon? I’m done with the harsh realities of life…it’s time for some dreams to come true…pronto!

Until next time…Peace!

The Fork in the Road: Yep, I’m here again!

Girlfriend, it is sooo not easy approaching a fork in a road; and let me tell you, I am the “queen” of that situation. Oh how I wish I could zoom ahead 5 years into the future to see what I decided to do with the rest of my life and how well it actually panned out.

Believe me, the desire to succeed is there, the ambition has always been there; but the execution has been totally lacking. I am a person with no contacts and no hook-ups to speak of, but I still believe that I can become a great success. Not to be a “downer”, but it is what it is.

Is it the hard and softball situations that keep hitting me in the face that get me, or is it because I am a huge procrastinator? Maybe what I want to do, is not what I am supposed to do. Whatever it may be, at some point I have to, as we all have to, get the hell over it and just do the damned thing. But how do you know when it is time to change courses and figure something else out? Huh?

The fork in the road is daunting as hell, and sometimes, I think it laughs at me a little because it knows that I probably won’t pick the right path. To that I say…screw you!!! It’s either go hard or go home!!!

So, here goes…I’ll continue to post my progress.

I just hope that I’ll have something good to report.

Until next time…Peace!

For the Feet-Challenged…

I have tried a lot of things on my feet to keep them smooth, especially the heels.

I just wanted to give a shout out to the latest product that I’ve tried that unexpectedly works quite well.

Neutrogena’s “Foot Cream.”

It can be found mainly next to their “Hand Cream” on the shelves, but not all stores carry it. You can find the hand cream way more than the foot cream.

Try it, and if it doesn’t help, well, I don’t know what to tell you!

Oh Lord, These Kid Movies !!!

Now, when I was a kid, there were movies like “Herbie the Love Bug,” “The Bad News Bears” and “Escape to Witch Mountain” that we saw at the movie theatres. I had no idea the pain that my mom experienced to get through most of these movies. The big difference, however, is that kid movies were not out just about every week like they are now. With the advent of computer-generated animation, not to mention the star-studded voices that bring the characters to life, there is always something that I should be taking my girls to see.

Oh, did I forget the never-ending marketing for the movie like character bed sets, bookbags, and Happy Meal toys? No wonder I try, most times unsuccessfully, to get that to be my husband’s job like mowing the lawn or washing the car—you know the stuff they do that is seasonal and definitely not everyday. Yeah, take the kids to one of their movies. That can be his thing like mine is to go to PTA meetings, or be on some other committee.

Can I also talk about these “live” shows…let me just say that I cannot wait for them to grow out of this stage. One note to the producers of these shows—-it is not, and I repeat, not necessary to have an intermission. Just keep going, sell me a balloon and water bottle after the show—please.

I love being with my children, but man, the price you pay for “quality time” can get pretty darn steep.

Can I get an Amen?!

Until next time…Peace!

Mom vs. Wife: The Epic Saga

Here’s a sticky situation that many of you may deal with…

Mom vs. Wife is the epic saga that has plagued many families and put the husband-sons in the most ultimate “damned if you do” situations. I really feel for the guys, but I would be lying if I didn’t say that I think the wife comes in at a grave disadvantage. Not only does the wife have to compete with the mother-in-law for the husband-son’s love and time, but she has to do so with kindness and understanding. I mean really, sons and mothers…forget about it. That is a bond that when it is strong, is virtually unbreakable.

So, the power struggle begins. The quest for ultimate supremacy is on. Who takes top spot on husband-son’s priority list. Basically, who’s number 1? On one hand, you have the woman who actually gave life to your husband, clothed, and fed him for years. On the other hand, you have the woman he has picked to be his lifemate and bear his children. It’s not so simple.

Hmmm…Don’t think I have the answer, because I don’t. I know some people will have very strong views about this topic based on what they’ve gone through individually.

So, grab a cup of coffee and the ear of a good girlfriend and talk amongst yourselves. If anyone has any answers, drop me a line.

Until next time…Peace.

My Babies are Going to Kindergarten!!!

OK, OK, I knew this day would come. My twin girls will be starting kindergarten, and I must say I am trippin’ a little. First of all, I’ll have to get them to school on time–a major feat–just ask anyone at their pre-school. Let me just say, “Perfect Attendance” is an award that they just may never get.

Next, they put them in separate classes–can you say “separation anxiety?!” It’s mainly me because so far, they’re taking it like champs. I guess we all need a break from each other, huh? I just hope their teachers are on the same level. Remember when we were in school and you had three teachers for the same grade? One teacher was mean, one was nice, and the other really indifferent.
Well, in this case…”Separate but equal” is a principal that this family will be subscribing to.

My visibility and participation at school will be monitored and noted. I’ll take my shift at the concession stand during the games, be the first to arrive at Parent-Teacher conferences, be the President of the Booster Club, and raise money with fundraisers that reward $1,000 in candy sales with a $50 pizza party.

I guess it’s “big girl time” for all of us. Time to suit up and get in the game.

There will be challenges for all of us, but please make no mistake…mama’s crazy, so “don’t start none, won’t be none.”

My, they grow up so fast!

Until next time…Peace
